Our Process

Our process begins very simply ... We listen.

Step 1 Our first meeting together

Our process begins with your vision and ends with your new home built just for you.

First and foremost, this meeting is to listen to your ideas and the features you want in your new home. We take those ideas and work with you and your designer on a plan to bring them to life.

Because every customer and family is different, we create homes and spaces that are unique. Starting with the initial sketches, and on through construction and finishing, we are completely customer oriented. Every aspect of each home is specific to the buyer and their needs.

Step 2 Design Collaboration

Now it’s time to start designing and building your new custom home!

If you’re planning to build a custom home from scratch, it’s worth it to look into experienced custom home builders in your area. QRI custom homes has decades of experience building in here in Brunswick County. We are familiar with the local building codes and HOA architectural requirements of the communities in the area.

If you’re new to custom home building, know that you’ll need to spend time both designing and then building your custom home. You’ve likely chosen to build a custom home because you value the freedom to make your own decisions layout, design style and finishes.

In general, you can plan for the design phase of your custom home building process to take between 4-8 months. During that time, We will work together with you to, finalize the plans, choose your finishes, prepare your home plans for submission to the community architectural review board. QRI will work directly with the community to obtain final approval of your design. After approval, your plans will be submitted for review and building permits.

Step 3 Permitting & Building

The next step is to submit designs, plan sets, and applications to acquire any permits required to begin the construction of your home. While the permit submissions are pending approval, we use this time to create a detailed construction schedule, procure materials and coordinate construction and labor scheduling. Once all permits are issued, the building process can begin.

Step 4 Breaking Ground and Managing the Build

Now that the pre-construction phases have been completed, the construction of your home is underway. With our aforementioned construction schedule in place, our seasoned crews diligently work with minimal delays to expedite the construction phase as quickly and as seamlessly as possible. During each milestone of construction, our crews will do a quality control assessment to ensure everything is progressing properly, the plan set is being consulted, and take stock of the inventory of supplies & materials. By taking the time during the construction portion of the job to consult and verify the designs, blueprints, and plan sets we can guarantee all permits and zoning requirements are met and that the construction of your home will pass the required inspections.

Step 5 Construction Phase

It typically takes a year to build a custom home. Throughout this process we will stay connected with you. Consistently updating you on the progress of your home. You will hear about the “bumps in the road” as well as the goals met along the way.

Step 6 Final Walk-Through and Move in!

Welcome to your new home! At QRI custom homes, we don’t simply hand you the keys and leave the rest for you to figure out. Instead, we will take you on an orientation of your new home and ensure everything is to your satisfaction. Like we said at the beginning, “If you can dream, we can build it!” - Al Yuhasz, Owner
